Dr Shubham Duttagupta
Head of the Monocrystalline Silicon Wafer Solar Cell Group
Solar Energy Research Institute of Singapore (NUS - SERIS)
Dr Shubham Duttagupta is the Head of the Monocrystalline Silicon Wafer Solar Cell group at SERIS – Singapore’s national laboratory for applied solar energy research. Dr Duttagupta’s PhD research focused on the development of advanced multifunctional materials required for high-efficiency crystalline silicon wafer solar cells. He is managing a large R&D group focused on the development of >25% crystalline silicon solar cells for mass-production, technology transfer and commercialization of high-efficiency processes. In mid-2018, his research group has developed a lean process flow resulting to >22.5% large-area crystalline silicon wafer solar cells in pilot-scale environment. He has recently developed a highly promising method for single-sided deposition of advanced layers for passivated contact solar cells i.e. the monoPoly process and corresponding solar cell technology. In the last 10 years of his career in photovoltaics, Dr Duttagupta has achieved several awards, notably the ‘Institute of Microelectronics Prize’ by the National University of Singapore (NUS), runner-up for the prestigious ‘SolarWorld Junior Einstein Award’ and most recently the ‘Young Scientist Award’ at the PVSEC 2016.
