Q. What is your view of the drive towards clean energy in Asia today and the resulting impact on the region?
The resulting impact on the region means cleaner environment, more efficient use of resources, better reliability, more flexibility, and bringing electricity to non-electrified areas. Thus, Asia needs to take advantage of the opportunity to leap-frog technologies that are: (1) more advanced and proven in places like the US and (2) more economical with the dramatic fall in prices of batteries.
Q. What do you think Asia’s renewable energy landscape will look like in the next five years?
Over the next five years, there will be massive increase in renewable energy such as solar and wind, flexible generation for reliability, and storage for reliability.
Q. What is your company planning next for the growing clean energy in Asia?
We will continue to grow our teams and expertise in renewables, storage and integration, as well as the opening of Wärtsilä Acceleration Centre for digital co-creation in Singapore.
