Richard is the Chief Executive Officer for Smart Power Myanmar, a uniquely positioned platform dedicated to catalyzing economic growth in Myanmar through improved access to reliable energy. With twenty years’ of professional experience in investment banking, social marketing, journalism and international development in multiple countries in Europe, South and SE Asia, and Africa, Richard has successfully led designing, fundraising for and evaluating impactful development programs. In Myanmar, Richard secured new business development initiatives worth in excess of $200 million to date and acted as Country Director of one of Myanmar’s largest INGO, managing complex integrated development portfolios. With his outstanding sector expertise and a particularly strong track record of building relations with high-level government as well as private and public stakeholders, Richard currently leads a team of dedicated professionals to develop and implement integrated approaches for improving livelihoods through decentralized energy access. Smart Power Myanmar, founded in May 2018, is financed by the Rockefeller Foundation, and managed by Pact, a global non-profit agency based in the US with a large footprint in Myanmar. Smart Power Myanmar’s Founding Members include The Rockefeller Foundation, The World Bank, USAID and Yoma Strategic Holdings.
