Mr Debajit Palit works in the field of rural electrification policy and regulation, distributed generation, solar PV and biomass gasification. He has more than 20 years’ experience working on renewable energy technologies – design and implementation, resource assessment & energy planning; rural electrification policy & regulation, monitoring, impact assessment and capacity building. He has worked in projects for UN organisations, The World Bank, Asian Development Bank, national governments and Corporates, spread across countries in Asia and Africa. Currently, he is leading the Rural Energy and Livelihoods Division in TERI and has been responsible for the TERI’s Lighting a Billion Lives initiative since 2008. He has written widely on energy access and rural electrification and has published around 50 research papers in peer-reviewed journals, conference proceedings and books. He holds a Master degree in Physics and has recently submitted his Ph D thesis on convergence of grid and decentralised electricity solutions for effective rural electrification in India.
